The internet is wild and crazy about a lot of things. It’s hard to find answers and know whom and what you can trust. My goal is to rebuff the junk with some hard truth – whether I’m shedding light on the myths of the diet industry, sharing tips for overall good health, or imparting some meal planning wisdom on my readers.
I’ve been pretty vocal in the past about how beneficial drinking warm water with lemon can be. If you would like to see what my experience has been, read all about it here.
Lemons are like the super food that never get the credit they deserve. They are relatively inexpensive, widely available year round, last a pretty long time in the refrigerator, and their juice can even be frozen for later use.
If you follow me, I know you are interested in your health as well as simplifying the process of getting healthier. I’m going to do just that today:
Here are 3 things you should know about drinking warm water with lemon, and a bonus – just because!
- It is best to drink warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. This gives it time to do the work of detoxing your cells. However, your job is to follow that with lots and lots of water to flush all of the toxins out. If you forget to flush the toxins, they recirculate through your bloodstream and create more generalized inflammation.
- Avoid brushing your teeth right after drinking fresh squeezed lemon juice. Brushing with acid on your teeth will erode your enamel. Resolve this by drinking lots of water or by eating 30-minutes after drinking your lemon water, then brush.
- For added health benefits and an instant kick to your metabolism – all while boosting your immunity – add fresh ginger root and a teaspoon of raw or organic honey to your warm water with lemon.
- BONUS! Juice 2-3 lemons at a time and store them in an air tight glass jar in the refrigerator to simplify and encourage your morning ritual.
